OIL ENTRAPMENT SYSTEMS:
Jump to price list

Quite possibly, the most efficient PCV line
oil
entrapment equipment in the world! (see our white
paper regarding PCV valve explanation and descriptions of various types of catch
cans, here)
We have now have two types of filter enclosures.....

We start with a Watts F504-02DHX67 zinc-bodied particulate oil filter.
It can withstand
200 degrees F. temperatures - far more than the polycarbonate (clear)
version's 125 degrees F
rating. On the
outside, it looks like any
other catch can, but what makes this one much more
effective at trapping oil, lies
inside:

This is a 20 micron filter element with liquid dispersion disc. Designed
to separate high-content liquid oil
and to swirl airborn oil against the aluminum or glass body to promote
coalescence, this type of element and dispersion technology is both inexpensive
and more effective than mesh-type filters. In addition, you'll never find small
strands of loose
steel fibers in your intake manifold.
This incredible filter element is sealed against the inside of the
upper housing using this
cleverly designed acetal retainer and separate dispersion disc:

For those whose engine bays are lacking of space, our extended aluminum
body, at only 1.5 inches in diameter, is very compact. This housing (shown
below) is machined from a solid billet of 6061-T6 aluminum.

Take a look at the precision machining that
goes into making each
Watts particulate filter upper housing to which the extended length housing is
assembled:

Of course, some people prefer to pop open the hood to quickly see how much
oil/water has accumulated in their catch can. Up until now, the only catch cans
on the market with any kind of sight tube are mostly simple aluminum cans with
little, if any oil "trapping" ability. To accommodate this need for
"clarity", we designed our own aluminum top piece (uses the same Watts
line of filter elements) so that it would allow easy
assembly of a thick (.12-inch) glass body to it. A custom rubber gasket that is
impervious to any type of oil was also designed to be adhered to the bottom of
this top piece. The glass body and aluminum top piece each have an outside
diameter of 2 inches, so capacity of oil/water entrapment is slightly higher
than that of the extended length aluminum housing. A 200 degree black vinyl cap
(1-inch tall) and a stainless steel safety bracket are included with every glass body kit.
The "VAC-P" port is used to connect the vacuum line for
"particulate" element usage. Note: Since the glass
housing
is typically exposed to vacuum pressure, it is not necessary to apply a large
amount of torque to the housing after its upper lip contacts the rubber gasket.
To ensure long life, only 1-5 degrees of rotation is necessary after contact is
made with the gasket.
Both the aluminum kit and the OEM Watts assembly come with a zinc-plated
steel mounting bracket:

...to which we add brass thumbscrews after tapping the two holes in the
top of the upper housing.
You can flip the bracket for more compact mounting conditions.
We then add a couple of solid brass 90 degree 3/8 or 1/2-inch hose
fittings...

and you've got a kit that
represents an extremely good value.

A nice thing about the aluminum body kit is that you have a choice of oil-containing
housings, one that has a brass
bleed valve and one that has three times the capacity. Add some fuel-line hose and a good
place to mount
your coalescing filter, and you're doing a great job of keeping that
carbon-inducing oil from coating
the inside of your engine's intake. Please note that Conceptual Polymer cannot
test each kit with each type of engine configuration ; therefore, we cannot
guarantee the effectiveness of our kits.
Each aluminum body "Kit" consists of the following:
♦ Watts F504-02DHK67 particulate filter element
with acetal retainer, liquid dispersion disc,
mounting bracket, and zinc containment can
♦ (2) 6-32 x 1/4 brass thumb screws
♦ Machined from billet extended length aluminum housing
♦ (2) Teflon-taped solid brass hose fittings, 1/4 MNPT (either 3/8 or 1/2
inch hose barb)
Each Glass body "Kit" consists of the following:
♦ Watts F504-02DHK67 particulate filter element with Acetal retainer and
liquid dispersion disc
♦ Precision-machined aluminum top piece
♦ Custom-designed rubber gasket (highly resistant to any type of oil)
♦ 1/8-inch thick glass body (impervious to almost any chemical)
♦ Stainless steel mounting bracket and stainless steel safety bracket
♦ (2) Teflon-taped solid brass hose fittings, 1/4 or 3/8 MNPT (either 3/8 or 1/2
inch hose barb)
♦ Black Vinyl cap (rated to 200 degrees F) to dampen vibration (if necessary).
Dimensions: Aluminum kit (approximate): 6 inches tall x 1.5 inches
diameter (3.25 inches wide with fittings)
Glass body kit: See link underneath cost chart.
Warning: Do not internally pressurize the extended length
aluminum housing to more than
60 psi. Do not allow water within the housing to freeze if level is above the
filter element. Glass body kit is for automotive (vacuum pressure) applications,
only. Do NOT use with compressed air systems! Doing so may result in severe
injury or death. If your PCV line
system may experience positive pressure install a check valve to prevent the
glass housing from being
internally pressurized.
