1. Remove your OEM shift knob by turning it counterclockwise.
Note: Each glass elegance shift knob is supplied with a small vial of Loctite 425 threadlocker. This liquid will harden on threads after the shift knob or locking collar is assembled onto the shifter shaft. It will prevent the shift knob and/or locking collar from vibrating loose. To apply, remove from the vial with a small-diameter object (such as a toothpick) and spread onto the lower shifter shaft threads. 2. If using a locking collar, thread the locking collar onto the shifter shaft with tapered end facing down. Do not tighten the locking collar at this time.
3. Carefully thread the shift knob onto the shifter shaft by turning it clockwise. If any resistance is felt, reverse-thread the shift knob until it is completely free from the shaft threads and try again. 4. If the shifter boot does not reach the bottom of the lockcollar, wrap electrical tape around the shifter shaft, just below the collar. Wrap enough tape around the shaft so that the boot doesn't slip down after being pulled up over the tape.
5. Thread the shift knob down until it contacts the locking collar. If the knob is not oriented correctly, turn it counterclockwise until it is facing forward and rotate the locking collar until it contacts the bottom of the shift knob. 6. By holding the locking collar with your left hand and tightening the knob against it with your right hand, your assembly should remain secure in this orientation. Note: By using the Loctite threadlocking glue that is supplied with your knob, you may install the knob without the locking collar. Again, use electrical tape to hold up the shifter boot.
If installing a Crystal sphere shift knob, follow the same procedure (no locking collar) as described above.
